"My set up at An American in Paris was built around standing at the vibraphone. Most of the book is vibes filling out the sound of the strings and winds, but then it quickly switches to the xylophone, glockenspiel and timpani parts everyone expects to hear from an orchestral Gershwin score. An unexpected addition to a fairly standard set up of instruments is the set of tuned cowbells (almglocken). They are used during 'I've Got Rhythm', picking up a jazzy melody introduced by the cast playing bottles and glasses in what I call the 'STOMP' section of the show. It's definitely the first time I've been asked to swing an almglocken part!

I'm also using some custom designed mallets from Innovative Percussion based on their IP-GTX Timpani/Xylophone & Bell Combo stick."

Andy endorses Pearl/Adams Percussion, Innovative Percussion Sticks and Mallets, and Paiste Cymbals.
