Photo Below: “I brought in my Gibraltar G-Class Pedal for the kick drum. While switching out the pedals, I put the rental pedal to the side and ended up hitting the drum with it. It created a higher pitch/resonant sound like an un-muffled marching drum which was perfect for a song called ‘Daniel's Super Toy Trading Shop’ which the composer wanted toy-like sounds. I ended up keeping both pedals in the setup. Anything to maximize sonic possibilities in a confined space!”

“This is a wonderful new musical by Lee Overtree and Hunter Bell with music and original lyrics by Eli Bolin and orchestrated by Matt Castle & Frank Galgano.

The band consists of Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass, Drums/Percussion, Violin, and Cello. We are spread out all around the stage and communicating via Music Director video and Aviom Mixers. Drums are fully mic’d under the stage. It's a great experience to see the Musical Theater process for a new work.

Eli Bolin wrote some great songs orchestrated beautifully by Galgano/Castle with varying feels and styles. Rock, Soul, Rock Shuffles, Half-Time Shuffles, Funk, Bossa Nova, Pop Rock, Hip-Hop, Punk, Disco, Indie Pop, Pop Ballad, Gospel and quasi-Latin Pop. Some tunes are performed with background tracks and click tracks.”

"Thursday, February 16th, 2017 was a special day. I was both excited and nervous as I stepped into SIR Studios in Manhattan to start the first orchestra rehearsal for the Broadway production of Miss Saigon."
"When preparing a percussion book for a new Broadway show, we occasionally get the music in advance. That allows us to start our “treasure hunt” early, to have the right sounds ready, and to get a jump on the setup. But often, Broadway is the first appearance of the fully orchestrated show, and we have seen very little before the first rehearsal."

"The musical experience of recording a Broadway cast album ranges from easy to difficult depending on the circumstances. I find that the two factors that contribute most to the quality of the experience are: 1) how good the band is; and 2) how soon after you started the show you record the album"
